Steve Burgess lives in Vancouver, one of the most expensive cities in North America, on a very small budget. He does this by living frugally, and he freely admits, his frugality is almost to the point of obsession. Burgess offers tangible suggestions from his own life about how to live on a tight budget: he rides a bike; he thrifts his clothes and has them mended as needed; and shops for discount groceries. He also offers valuable reflections, based on academic research, on how the ways we choose to live impact the planet and our social networks. Part how-to manual, part memoir and part reflection on the psychology and ethics of frugality, Burgess offers a humorous and fascinating take on living well on the cheap.
