This is a 2011 132-minute documentary-drama based on the true story of Aung San Suu Kyi and her husband, Michael Aris. It is also an epic exquisite love story of a courageous, passionate, and freedom-loving woman and the husband and children she must give up for her country. After 15 years under house arrest, Aung San Suu Kyi was released in 2010. Yet according to Amnesty International the Murmese military continues to have one of the worst human rights records in the world and the charges against them include mass murder, torture, rape, and forced labor of both adults and children. There are currently 2,100 political prisoners in detention. Seventeen are video journalists, some of whom courageously supplied footage for this film.
