This book has a lot of great and interesting information about the history of underwear. The text gives very detailed descriptions about the undergarments, how they were made and how they came about. If it was text only I would have given it a full five star rating. The illustrations are very cute and funny; but they do a poor job of supporting the text. Detailed pictures of what the text describes would have been better than the cute cartoons. Some of the pictures do this to some extent; but for the most part add almost no understanding to the descriptions in the text. The big disappointment are the 50 questions which I had assumed would be logical questions people might actually ask; like "What kind of underwear did George Washington wear into battle"? Here are a sample of some of the questions: #8 What's that smell? #10 Squire, where are my skivvies? #16 Can I cinch it any tighter? #22 Why the bother about bloomers? You and the kids can learn a lot from it about the history of clothing and have some fun doing it. I reccomend it highly.
