Great kudos to Aronofsky as director, who made the movie avoiding kind of "traumas" or other "psychological" puzzles or so on That makes the movie really interesting to watch On the philosophical layer that story is of course kind of BS and probably worth debunking: Thomas easily would be fired for his indecent behavior and anyway that a myth propagated by assholes from Hollywood that making deprivation is "helpful" for innocent souls because is making them able to deeper express own desires No, I am not buying that BS - entertainment world is full of corruption and fake prophesies, who love creating myths and legends. That's true that many real artists are really "bad guys" and their weaknesses are making them rebellious but it is also true that artistic world is full of no-talent slugs , who used those myths about "deeper levels" for their own advantage. Again - another Aronofsky movie worth to discuss with young people in high school, who are yearning for black swan experience. With proper explanation.
