Tom Waits's 12th album, released in 1998. It was his first album since "The Black Rider,' making for one of the longest gaps in his career. After that excursion into theatrical music, this is a return to his rusty can, nail stirring brandy, junkyard blues. And it may be his bluesiest album, although he's always had approached the genre from his own peculiar, skewed angle. At 70 minutes, it runs a bit long, but it's prime Waits. Followed by "Blood Money."
