Griffith, Duke of Riverton, likes order, logic, and control, and he naturally applies this rational approach to his search for a bride. He's certain Miss Frederica St. Claire is the perfect wife for him, but while Frederica is strangely elusive, he can't seem to stop running into her stunningly beautiful cousin, Miss Isabella Breckenridge. Isabella should be enjoying her society debut, but with her family in difficult circumstances, her uncle will only help them if she'll use her beauty to assist him in his political aims. Already uncomfortable with this agreement, the more she comes to know Griffith, the more she wishes to be free of her unfortunate obligation. Will Griffith and Isabella be able to set aside their pride and face their fears in time to find their own happily-ever-after?

Loved this book. The story is well written and not forced as many other romantic stories. So beautiful. So fresh. I'm hooked in this series.

An Inconvenient Beauty may be book 4 in the Hawthorne House series, but you wouldn't know it by picking it up off the shelf at the bookstore. It stands alone and I didn't feel like I missed anything by dropping myself into the series midway through (as we all know I'm wont to do).

The book reads like Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, with witty banter, memorable characters, a glorious English setting, and a swoon-worthy male lead. Hunter noted that Chris Hemsworth provided inspiration for the Duke of Riverton; I couldn't help but think of Colin Firth, myself. (Just keeping the P&P love going. I can't help myself. Still, I'll take Chris as a close second.)

Truly a delight to read, the book is perfect for fans of the aforementioned Austen (or Colin Firth ... ahem). A wonderful way to virtually cross the pond for an enjoyable, relaxing several hours.

I received a free copy of the book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

What made this a 3 1/2 stars vs. a 5 stars was, in all of the other Hawthorne books, Griffith appears to be confident, independent and somewhat stiff. In this book, he seemed very desperate! He seemed so desperate to find a wife, and once he set his sights on the right person, he came across as willing to do anything to win her affection. Isabella, on the other hand, was too repressed. I don’t know how they became a match, and who knows how their marriage would go on, if this was to be believed. did keep me reading, so 3 1/2 stars it is!
