This book is overwhelming! Not for the feint of heart. There are also no complete "patterns," just stitching guides for all of the - admittedly beautiful - patterns. Not for beginners, or even beginning-intermediates. This book expects you to BYOE - bring your own experience.

These patterns are gorgeous and very unique. I liked many of them and can see the designs in afghans and blankets. If someone can make their own patterns, these would make gorgeous sweaters.
The instructions are in graph form with Japanese knitting symbols. These are unfamiliar to me. There are explanations to the symbols at the beginning of the book but they aren't always clear. I will definitely be taking this book out again to figure out the symbols. If I can, I would purchase a copy of this book for my home library. I think this book would be a great book to own and reference to.

Very intricate patterns. Large section of a variety of different types of lace patterns. Also includes allover patterns, which it divides into different sections (a generic “overall patterns”, crossing stitch patterns, pattern panels, and pattern arrangements; although I couldn’t always tell how each section was different from the others). Has some beadwork patterns, a section on round yokes, and some edging patterns. Patterns are all charts, not written patterns, and are in Japanese notation, but the book includes instructions on how to do all of the stitches. Includes a few projects. Definitely not for beginners. Book has very small print, although there's probably not a way around that, given how detailed and large the patterns are.
