Lyrical, emotional, dramatic, and packed with Nancy Thayer's trademark warmth and wisdom, Heat Wave tells the moving story of a woman who, after her seemingly perfect life unravels, must find the strength to live and love again.

After her husband's sudden death, Carley Winsted is determined to keep her two daughters in their beloved home on Nantucket. To ease the family's financial strain, she decides to transform their grand, historic house into a bed-and-breakfast. Not everyone, however, thinks this plan prudent or quite respectable--especially not Carley's mother-in-law. Further complicating a myriad of challenges, a friend forces Carley to keep a secret that, if revealed, will undo families and friendships. And her late husband's former law partner is making Carley confront an array of mixed feelings. Then, during a late-summer heat wave, the lives of Carley and her friends and family will be forever changed in entirely unexpected ways.

An "OK" story. Somehow I think there will be a sequel - could be wrong. I just felt there was more to read about these characters and their future together.

Enjoyed listening to the story. Very realistic. Look forward to the next story by this author.

An easy reading. It talks about how women deal with the lost of love and lost of life.

Great beach read - how a wife comes together after the tragic loss of her husband - with the help of family, friends and community

A very good summer read - although I did feel like the ending was a bit rushed. You really get to know these characters and get attached to them.

I also highly recommend "Moon Shell Beach" by Nancy Thayer. A couple characters from that book are mentioned in this one.

A quick read. Although I am new to this author, she writes in the same vein as Elin Hildebrand. Both their stories are about Nantucket or Cape Cod locations and the people that live in them.

An engrossing read about a woman, mother of two young girls, who lost her husband suddenly. Discovering that her late husband lost a ton of money, she decided to open a bed and breakfast against her in-laws' misgivings. A wonderful story that explore the relationships with her friends, her daughters, her in-laws, and especially her developing romantic relationship with her late husband's close friend who keep popping up throughout the story.
