It's not like Sheldon Funk didn't have enough on his plate. His last audition, for the reality television series House Bingo, had gone disastrously wrong. His mother was in the late stages of dementia. His savings were depleted, his agent couldn't care less, and his boyfriend was little more than a nice set of abs. Now, Sheldon also has to contend with decomposition, the scent of the open grave, and an unending appetite for human flesh. Plus another audition in the morning.

Mom was indeed dead, with delusions of animation; it was not a miracle that she had not bitten anyone, for she had, several times. However, lacking dentures, her constant soft gumming of her attendants' limbs was a cause for irritation, not worry.

Who knew death could lead to an eating disorder?

Well, I definitely experienced the full emotional spectrum while reading this and was very surprised to do so. The first part made me giggle, guffaw, snort. Then it was all I could do not to vomit along with some of the characters. At some point along the way I started feeling sorry for Sheldon (wth, Corey??!). I found myself fascinated and repulsed in equal measures and wondering if it was Sheldon's voice or Corey's I heard in my head urging me to continue reading... If you want a zombie book that has literally everything (and some of it is kinda out there - in a good way!), this is the one to read. The heart (or should it be brain...) of the novel to me is based on this one soul-searching question "Was I a standard zombie, or an awful human being?"
