Circular and top-down (and in the case of socks, toes-up) knitting have a number of advantages, including the avoidance of seaming and the ability to try on items for fit as the work progresses. This is a superb, step-by-step workbook for these techniques. Unfortunately, most of the projects look charity-store crafty. So make the projects with inexpensive wool, sharpen your skills, and present the results to children too young to care.

As a beginning knitter, I really struggled with this book. The projects look great, but I'd suggest coming back to this later if you're a beginner. The written instructions and sparse photographs leave a lot to be desired for a newcomer, imho.

Whether you are just getting started with knitting on the round, or an experienced knitter wanting to learn some new tricks, this book is one to borrow. Full of projects that are good for those new to the featured techniques, as well as methods for increasing the complexity. The full colour photos and detailed instructions are a great help. There are also a number of tips for creating your own patterns that can be used by brave knitters.

An outstanding reference text for those who use double pointed and round cable needles. Covers everything from innovative casting on and off, knitting two pieces at the same time, and a re-thinking of just about every aspect of traditional knitting. It includes many patterns as illustration and demonstration of the "new" techniques, as well as methods for designing your own patterns.
