Quite boring. Not much to learn here, more a love-fest for the French. Doesn't go into enough detail. Plenty of pointless anecdotes. Not a compelling read for a subject that should be ripe for criticism and analysis.

Very good book, and far more engaging and in depth than I would have expected. The author really gets to the heart of French culture, and has a keen eye (and ear), for the subtle ways of French expression. It also reveals that French seduction is not only about sex.

Lots of blah blah blah by an American living in France. She goes on about how it is so "not like the states", which gets old. Her insights point out a society I would rather live in. Maybe we should switch places. Question is: Why is she even there?

Ms. Sciolino does a surperb job of explainging the non-chalance of the French. Though, North Americans can be faulted for perjoratives in realtion to the title, others interested in human interactions, social discourse and belonging to an elite intellectually driven society will be fascinated.
We have seduction -- automobile repair shops, seduction in discourse, seduction in dress......all very complex characteristics of a vibrant lively society.
