Ellis, Julia, and Dorie. Best friends since Catholic grade school, they now find themselves in their mid-thirties, at the crossroads of life and love. Ellis, recently fired from her job, begins to question the choices she's made over the past decade. Julia has a man who loves her and is offering her the world, but she can no longer hide her deepest insecurities. And Dorie has just been shockingly betrayed by the man she loved and trusted the most. Can a one-month getaway to North Carolina's Outer Banks help make things right?Sometimes the tide just pulls you in the right direction...The landlord of the ladies' beach house is Ty Bazemore, who's hanging on to the property by a thread-even as he finds himself spiraling into a deep attraction with Ellis. Then there's Maryn Shackleford, a stranger who arrives on the scene in search of a good hiding place and a new identity. Can Ellis, Julia, and Dorie provide what Maryn is looking for? Five people on a journey that will uncover their secrets and point them on the path to renewal and forgiveness. One summer rental that might be what each of them has needed all along

Great summer read. Quick and easy.

Made me want to go on a Beachfront Bargain hunt for a house right on the water.

I was disappointed in this one; if there was an actual plot it was buried too deep for me to find. I felt like the author sat down at her keyboard and made it up as she went along. It also drives me crazy when one of the characters has two names and the author inter-uses them as if we are supposed to keep up.

Easy beach read. Predictable.

Fantastic book - one of my favourites from Mary Kay Andrews. The characters are relatable and develop, somewhat, throughout the book. You cannot flip the pages fast enough. A perfect read in the summer or even in the winter, if you want to transported to a sunny beach.

This book is the perfect beach read! Pack up your bags and head to the beach with the perfect vacation book! Nothing better than reading about a group of friends at the beach while you're on the beach. "Summer Rental" is about 3 best friends who live together for a month in a distressed, old beach house that has been a family heirloom of a neighborhood local. Ellis, Julia, and Dorie quickly discover the power and strength their friendship has. They experience feelings like lust, love, loss, and trust. Ellis meets a new guy and falls in love, and has feelings that she never thought could be possible. Julia comes to crossroads of whether or not to explore her modeling career further; that seems to be going nowhere, or to build a life with the man she loves and explore the idea of marriage-something that has haunted her her entire life. Dorie quickly discovers while their is loss in one portion of her life, their is surprises in another when she comes to terms with being single and pregnant. All three childhood friends learn new things about each other, make new friends, and come to the realization that even if the wallet is tight, sometimes going away with your girlfriends is the only answer.
