i am sorry but i totally disagree with Riceyy. this novel was very good and i compared it to the secret garden simply because it seemed like a secret garden to the main character Jessamine. I have to admit at first this novel didn't catch my eye but then i started reading it i got interested and i wanted to know all of it's secrets inside and outside the garden. A lot of drama for a short novel. Really enjoyed it. Great story! :)

this was a very simple novel, but i found that it was very uninteresting and not easy to pay attention to. the characters were strange as well as the turn of events that took place. i think i would be intrigued to read another in the series though, just because it was easy to fall in love with the setting and the eerie ambiance that was set by this novel. the writing itself was easy to read, but the actual story itself could have been further developed.

Not a huge fan. The entire concept was kinda bizarre. The beginning had potential but then it just got weird..

A simply written novel written in the first person. A young woman in the late 18th century diarises her life with her father, an apothecary. Whilst it is young adult fiction it's much more suitable for younger readers. An interesting concept that has been explored with greater success in other novels.
