I'm going to show you how to put a whole meal on the table in a matter of minutes! Not just one dish, a whole spread of beautiful things.

If, like me, you love food and have hungry mouths to feed when you get home after a long day, then allow me to let you in on a totally revolutionary new way of cooking. In this book I'm going to show you how to make a complete meal in the time you'd normally spend on one dish. What you'll be able to achieve in 30 minutes or less will absolutely blow your mind. It's certainly blown mine!

This is not about compromising on quality. It's about being organized, working fast, and using shortcuts and clever tricks to put insanely delicious plates of food on the table in no time. Each of the 50 meals inside has been carefully written so there's no messing about-just good, fast cooking. I've created complete menus of foods that go beautifully together and planned recipes in a really unique, easy-to-follow way. This kind of cooking is all about using every minute wisely, having fun, and reclaiming your kitchen for the job it was meant for.

You might think it can't be done, but I promise you it can. Have a look inside to see the sort of meals you're going to get. Once you start cooking this way, not only will you absolutely love it; you'll never look back.

I agree with axman. But this book was given to me as a gift a while ago. Now, as the cold weather came into the city, it was a very useful book-- as kindling for my fireplace

On the down side: many of the ingredients are not ones I tend to have on hand (and I do a lot of cooking) which makes the recipes expensive to make and difficult to prepare for. Also, many took me an hour or so to prepare. I don't see how you could do them "in minutes" unless you were a professional and could fly through the prep work. On the plus side: I loved the recipes I did make. So much so that I am checking this book out for a second time. They were delicious and beautiful and really made me feel like a chef. I would say because of the time and expense, most of these recipes are special treats to make and are not going to be your everyday go-to's.

I flipped through the book in less than an hour and did not want to try one receipe because in almost every receipe I would have to go out of my way to buy the ingredients. Some of the ingredients I have no clue as to what they are.

This book is cursed from the beginning, for cooking and cookbook lovers such as myself. It is a glossy photo/celebrity chef book, which usually spells disaster for any real content lover. This one is one of the tops of this "cookbook disaster list" because the recipes are very easy, if you can afford the ingredients, and there is not too much in the intro about "Himself", which is a refreshing breath of air concerning celebrity cookbooks. Most of this genre of shows and cookbooks are just commercials for the cook or his restaurants, but this one is pretty much okay. He seems harmless enough.

Great cooking book. Saves me a lot of time on grocery lists and planning weekly meals! They also taste awesome. Even my kids have approved! I usually read the books from the library before buying them, and this one I will definitely do!

If you are looking for dinner recipes that spell out how to make everything for dinner, in the order you need to make it, this book is for you. I got it for my husband and for my dad; Jamie's recipes always taste fantastic, even if you aren't sure while making it. Some ingredients are hard to find even in a major market like Seattle, so check before you go shopping for alternates. As always, Jamie's cookbooks are great.

I love this book and may end up buying to for my shelf. Before buying a cookbook, I always get it from the library and try two recipes. So far I've only tried the Sticky pan-fried scallops which were excellent.
The book is laid out by entire meal - the sticky pan-fried scallops included making chili rice, greens and brownie. Oliver gives you step by step instructions on how to get the entire meal done. It's easy to understand. The pictures of the food are helpful.

I think alot of people are missing the point. It is a different layout and multitasking but that is the idea. He is thinking outside the box and showing you how to be a more effective cook as well as providing great recipies for whole foods. I am buying the book for sure!

Contains some delightful recipes. However, the concept can be frustrating. Oliver provides recipes for a complete meal menu, with the recipes intertwined. This is great if one wants to follow his meal plan, but following a recipe for a single dish is confusing. This reader would have been much happier if after recommending a menu, Oliver had provided the recipes sequentially.
