Great Cast. Excellent (based on true) story. Beautifully filmed...

I without question prefer the book. I recommend reading the book before you watch the movie. It’s still good to watch but I don’t like how much they changed the story to make the movie

A welcome film about Soviet concentration camps---parallel to the Nazi ones--the Gulags about which is little known in the West.

The story revolves around the escape from 1 of the 450 Gulags, walking 4,000 miles south across the desert and the Himalayas. A remarkable survival story of the journey.

Excellent .. everyone should see! Based on true story and a part of history I was not really familiar with and not heard talked about. Shows what man can do when he has a will to live in the most adverse conditions. Great actors.

Escape from the Gulag in Siberia and a trek across half of Asia during the worst times of the Stalin era and WWII. A good movie well worth the time spent watching it.

The few that escape from a hellish gulag experience an enduring journey to freedom. Incredible how determined they were to escape into the worst conditions. Unfortunately freedom does come with a price. Good movie :)

Excellent film about political type of prisoners that escape from a Siberian Soviet gulag during the Stalin period, and they are followed by prison security with dogs trying to capture them--and, as the escapees hurriedly travel by foot through miles of harsh terrain, the viewer sees the different landscapes of the countries they pass through. Some surprises, great acting, script, and also sometimes quite excellent cinematography. Supposedly, based on true accounts. This is the kind of film one can watch several times during the year.

Exciting and gripping film about the quest for freedom. Not for those with a short attention span or who need car crashes and other gimmicks. Colin Farrell is outstanding, the production is beautifully filmed and directed. Totally inspiring.

This is a movie in which the audience is shown the injustice of Stalin and his people. The main character is accused of espionage by his wife who is tortured to be a witness and lie that he is a spy. Our main character is taken to a Hard labor camp in Siberia and escapes. Watch the escape and his survival and the stunning scenery throughout Siberia, Mongolia, and Tibet. A must see!
