Probably the best book in the Destroyermen series (alternate universe story about a WWII ship that goes to an alternate earth) except for maybe the first one. Lots of action, suspense, political intrigue, and military strategy. It was really neat having the focus of this book being more in the east and less about the Grik which was nice for a change. All of the story lines they followed were interesting (Silva with the princess, the sub, the munitions boat, Reddy on Hawaii, and the land battles to the west). Only complaint is that the cast of characters has grown so much that it can be hard to keep everybody straight, particularly the Lemurians. Can't wait for the next one!

I am thoroughly enjoying this series (which needs to be read in chronological order for those who haven't read any of them). The books get better each time. Real page turners which have more to them than just the plot. The various species on this alternate earth are well portrayed, as are the various issues arising from the plot.
