An in-depth study of why your communication styles are not wrong, just different. Finally, an answer for the number one problem in marriages.

This revolutionary message cracks the communication code between husband and wife: that unconditional respect is as powerful for him as unconditional love is for her. Based on Ephesians 5:33 and extensive biblical and psychological research, Dr. Emerson Eggerichs reveals the power of unconditional love and unconditional respect and how husbands and wives can reap the benefits of marriage that God intended.

This book is not for everyone. It is interesting, and always learning new things is good. My husband is constantly telling me I undermine his authority with our children. I thought this book would help me understand his perspective. Instead of reacting positively to the changes suggested, he became upset. So, although it was an interesting read, it was not helpful.

I read this book through twice because I felt the insights were so important for me to remember. A main benefit of the book was the knowledge/reminder that (many) men are "wired differently" than females and have different needs and different values and different expectations. I needed the reminder that I perceive life differently than my husband, and now I'm open more open to the notion that his outlook, while different than mine, is not inferior.

The book is written by a Christian pastor, so will likely be more accessible to Christian readers, but I recommend that all people in relationships read it and experiment with the ideas and test whether they have value for themselves. We are all wired a little differently from our partners.

Thanks Emerson and Sarah!

While there is a good message in there, I strongly disliked how often the author uses name-calling to try to empathize with the wife/husband. I'd recommend reading Dr. Gottman's work, which the author references several times.

This book is amazing! Some have said that the book is dry or slow; I didn't think so, but you may also search for the video series. My friends rave about the videos.

This is hands down my favorite book about marriage and relationships. I think it is especially important because of the focus on mens need for respect. If you have the opportunity to attend this conference live or even via DVD at a church hosting it, I would recommend it. It is life changing.

This book breaks down how marital friction can start and shows how to reverse it. Continue that action and your relationship keeps getting better and more intimate.
It has 3 parts: First for the general audience, then specifically for the husband, then specifically for the wife. Although, it is very beneficial to read all parts because it gives good perspective.
