Honestly, I am torn between whether or not I like this rendition of Tale Of Two Cities. This version skipped some pivotal points, and massacred the ending. However, the parts they did get right, they quoted the book word for word. On the whole, this was an average adaptation.

In my opinion, maybe the best version of Tale of Two Cities ever made. (I only say "maybe" because I haven't seen them all.) James Wilby will always be Sydney Carton for me, in the same way that (Colin Firth will always be Mr. Darcy). Moving, true to the book, excellent.

This is a bit odd for Dickens: setting a story in a different land and time. He is out of his element, and it shows a bit. Here are two of the best known lines in Dickens, and one of them comes very much in the wrong place (although it's worked in rather well). The acting isn't great, and the background and logic of character motivations suffers somewhat.
