It was fine. But like I feel like she moved quickly from THAT person to the OTHER person... I don't want to give anything away... But it was a great book. I was sad that this book didn't have more crossover. It is a book that you shouldn't be reading unless you are like VERY mature. I feel like... It might be my favorite book out of the series. Maybe tied with Graceling.

“Fire”, the companion book to “Graceling” widens the world the author originally created and opens up to give a character that is the flipside of the previously beloved Katsa. Fire is a delicate yet powerful creature, endowed with magic that is mental yet physical. She holds the interests that Katsa didn’t: marriage, mothering, a need to be protected—yet she doesn’t play the helpless lady. Instead she shows a mental prowess that provides a whole new look at strength and how it is built. Again, pushing the power of women, this is a fantastic book for young girls seeking to see themselves reflected in fantasy. The world remains vibrant and opens up to a technicolor view of a land of ‘monsters’—shining bright creatures of all kinds that ensnare human minds. The lore of the Graceling world arrives in the form of Leck, who appears as a side plot and a fine antagonist in this prequel of sorts. The author continues to explore themes of morality, strength, internal turmoil, and the weight of true decision-making, which all pay off due to her fine sense of plot and well-constructed characters. Again, the pace of the piece can make this a one-day read as the content and characters are so compelling. Another strong book in the series, I look forward to digging into the next one: “Bitterblue”.

I absolutely love this book. I was so sad when I heard there wasn't going to be a sequel. there is a companion to it, but Fire isn't mentioned much.
My favorite character is Small.

This book was AMAZING!!! The romance was perfect and worked well... It had a very sad part towards the end (As those who have read it know):( Otherwise it was a great book and I woukd advise you to read Graceling first which was also great! You should defiantly read this and I hope you enjoy!

Cool concept, cool world, not as cool as the books that came before it.

Like Bitterblue, this book gets the prestigious "Stayed Up Late Reading" award - it is compulsively readable. Fire is a strong heroine who isn't an "action girl". She basically has superpowers, but is terrified of them. Will she be able to accept them and herself to save her kingdom and the people she cares about? Great book. Compelling plot and excellent characters. I loved it!

Just when I thought I couldn't love Kristin Cashore's writing more, I came back around to this prequel to Graceling, and loved it even more than Graceling & Bitterblue. Fire is the lonely beauty who doesn't exploit her powers and eventually accepts that she is not her father. I am still thinking about her weeks later.

This is my favorite book in the whole trilogy. This book really embraces the idea that even if you are ugly on the outside you aren't necessarily on the outside. Fire is a human monster, and yet she is good hearted and kind, the complete opposite of her father.

Loved it! This book is a great sequel book to the epic Graceling. I couldn't leave this book other than when I had to. I greatly recommend it to others.

You're the queen, and it's the queen's house, and whatever Brigan may accomplish, he's highly unlikely ever to be queen.

Dear Brigan, she thought to herself. People want incongruous, impossible things. Horses do, too.

Fire is the last human monster alive and everyday is a fight, with herself and others, to hold on to the little piece of comfort she's found. Monsters are beautiful and their beauty gives them the ability to control anyone they want. Although Fire knows not to use her ability for wrong doing, she is hated and feared by almost everyone in the Dells. Now Fire is traveling away from the comfort and safety of her home in the woods and onto a journey that could change everything.

Fire is no ordinary girl. She is part monster. A creature so beautiful that most people can't control themselves. Fire travels to the king's city to aid him in the upcoming war. But when she meets Brigan. She is reminded of her fathers cold eyes. She has to decide between helping her kingdom or her friend.
