I haven't seen the movie since about 1970 and had high expectations. But OMG, it is such a slow movie, the first hour is a snoozefest. I suggest just fast forwarding to the car chase scenes then calling it a wrap.

Give me a Bugatti Veyron, a Pagani Huayri, a Stile Bertone Mantide, or this film's chase seen with that Dodge Charger! And be sure to include that pizza!

Pehaps this movie will be stand the test of time, The Ford "Mustang Fastback" chasing the Dodge "Charger" in one of the best chase scene on film. San Francisco is a great backdrop for Steve McQueen and Jacqueline Bisset to solve a murder, have a love affair and mesh some gears back in the late 1960's.

Steve McQueen, the king of cool does not disappoint. Love the San Francisco setting, and the car. No metrosexual, Steve oozes male pheromones from the screen. This is my second favorite Steve McQueen movie. The Getaway is my all time favorite. From reform school tough teenager, to great movie star. Steve always burns up the screen.

One of the great car chase scenes on film- ever! No kitsch on display here- unless you count the style of the 60's- which you shouldn't- as that was the style back then.

Aside from an amazingly choreographed car chase in and around San Francisco and Steve McQueen’s handsome mug, Peter Yates’ gritty policier is pretty much standard fare albeit with a slightly more convoluted plot. Nice touches of 60’s kitsch, including a host of familiar character actors, add to a compelling if somewhat fantastic storyline and Jacqueline Bisset’s inclusion as Bullitt’s love interest (and nagging voice of reason) provides a sexy distraction. But that aforementioned car chase alone is worth the rental fee.

Steve McQueen is mad and that not good. He is going to drive cars up and down mountainous streets way too fast chasing the crooks. He is a police detective who stops at nothing to catch his target. He takes on the city of San Francisco like it is his race course. Very suspenseful action all the way through!

LOVE this movie! Classic Steve McQueen in one of his best roles as Frank Bullet. The car chase scene through the hilly streets of San Francisco set the mold, while the ending scene is one of the best in film. Brilliant in every way.

One of my all-time favourite films. Arguably Steve McQueen's best.

A very good cop action adventure movie. McQueen is excellent at playing the cop who just wants to get the job done right without political interference. The classic chase seen through the streets of San Fran was good but a bit long. I especially liked when, during that chase sceen, McQueen's character changing from being chased to doing the chasing. This movie is much much better then the blow them up/cut them up thrillers of today.
