This is a 2000 American mockumentary comedy directed by Christopher Guest.
The film follows five entrants in a prestigious dog show and focuses on the slightly surreal interactions among the various owners and handlers as they travel to the show and then compete during the show.
If you're a dog lover, you might be able to enjoy seeing this flick, but the performances of the actors seem less competant than those of the dogs.
If the director made it as a documentary, it would be much better.

An okay mockumentary but not nearly as good as, say, Spinal Tap. It has its moments but there's a lot of dreck to go through to find the gems.

I highly recommend the mockumentary Best in Show for crazy dog people (it's okay, I am one) and fans of Christopher Guest's style of comedy; he is a master of the awkward moment. The movie is rated PG-13 for language and sex-related material.

I guess I'm not a Christopher Guest fan. It felt like a generic mockumentary, throwing together kooky characters and letting that be the story. Sometimes that works, but I found the characters in BEST IN SHOW to be caricaturish to the point of inane. I expected something more along the lines of the 1999 mockumentary DROP DEAD GORGEOUS, which focused on the ridiculousness of a beauty pageant competition and the chaos behind the scenes. A dog show is not far from a beauty pageant, but BEST IN SHOW is no DROP DEAD GORGEOUS. While BEST IN SHOW is goofy periodically, it's mostly boring. I was disappointed. (The dogs are adorable, though.) If you like Christopher Guest (A MIGHTY WIND, THIS IS SPINAL TAP, WAITING FOR GUFFMAN), then it'll be right up your alley. If not, then it's best to pass over this one.

Parker Posey and Jennifer Coolidge's characters are excellent. The rest of the cast does well too. GOD LOVES A TERRIER!

It's been so long since I watched this movie but the characters in this movie were really well thought out.

Light & goofy. A good movie when you're in the mood for same.

this is a mockumentary folks, not a serious film about real dogs in a real dog show. disappointing to see negative comments left below by reviewers who actually thought that it was a documentary (or should i say dogumentary).

any way to remove these comments? as this movie is one of the best improvisational comedies ever made and deserves some respect.

Oh, this was so boring. We had hoped it would be about the dogs, when in actuality, it started of with what the producers considered to be a humorous look at dysfunctional humans. We didn't last long before we rolled our eyes and shut it off.

huh, I seriously don't get it and I DON'T mean the movie. I find it AMAZING what people find entertaining.

"Leslie and I have an amazing relationship and it's very physical; he still pushes all my buttons. People say, 'Oh, but he's so much older than you,' and, you know what, I'm the one having to push him away. We have so much in common. We both love soup and snow peas; we love the outdoors . . . and talking and not talking. We could not talk or talk forever, and still find things to not talk about."
