SummaryAdd a Summary
Beginning with the start-up tutorial college that Liz and Jonathon Chambers take out loans to fund, soon the lives of three families intersect in surprising ways. Real estate Marcus Witherstone seemed to be the solution to their mounting debt when he speedily rents out their house that they have had trouble selling. While waiting for the new tenant to arrive, Liz and Marcus get drunk on champagne and one thing led to another. As Liz loses interest in the tutorial college she and her husband were previously so passionate about, her daughter Alice has difficulty adjusting to their new life and often sneaks out to visit their old house. When Alice meets the new tenants, she becomes enraptured by their glamorous lifestyle and spends more and more time with them. As the lives of her characters grow intertwined, Madeleine Wickham concludes the book with a reveal of the secrets that have been growing from the interactions. Ultimately, this is another breezy yet fun read.
