Internationally reknown oceanographer Steve Zissou and his crew - Team Zissou - set sail on an expedition to hunt down the mysterious, always elusive, possibly non-existant Jaguar Shark that supposedly killed Zissou's partner during the documentary filming of their latest adventure. On this journey, Steve's crew are joined by a young airline co-pilot, who may or may not be Zissou's son, a beautiful journalist who has been assigned to write a profile of Zissou, and Eleanor, Zissou's estranged wife and co-producer. They face overwhelming complications including pirates, kidnapping, and bankruptcy.

It is different, quirky and entertaining! Comedic!
The Commentary is good, but the background voices are annoying! Possibly was done in a cafeteria!?

The best of the Wes Anderson movies. Don't @ me.

Anderson got to make this movie because Royal Tenenbaums was well received. I watched RT before LA and had a positive view of WA going into LA, but that faded fast and was gone by the time I reached the halfway point with LA. Here's what I remember from LA, not necessarily in order of importance: Bill Murray's character stepping away to smoke a doobie and WA doing a cute special effect to convey what said doobie did to Bill's character; WA likes David Bowie but gets cute with using his songs to try unifying the story, in vain, and in Portuguese; Owen Wilson always stinks on ice; Murray's character uses an antigay slur to describe Jeff Goldblum's character; Murray is described as someone who "shoots blanks" by Anjelica Huston. Must've been fun to make. Not so much fun to watch.

This is a good movie- I like Wes Anderson and Bill Murray's films- but somehow I find myself fidgeting during this movie, and find myself getting impatient. I'm not sure if the film could have been better edited or written, but parts of the film feel aimless and it meanders into uninteresting territory some of the time. That being said it's still a good film, and definitely worth watching if you're a fan of either Anderson or Murray.

A quirky Anderson masterpiece.

Wes Anderson's unique and "out-of-the-box" style makes him a brilliant director. If your a fan, you'll enjoy this one as well. A tad long but great moments.

Fantastic fake (and acting is fantastic and genuine), produced effects unparalleled in the mainstream movie world. I wish more people made effort to see this film, and explore aux content on this double-disk edition. It's highly original, from visual and sound (music) effect, to storytelling and character-building.
Watching it can also be an escape to a surreal wonder(sea)land, whimsical without urge to search for serious life lessons, humane without futile grievances beyond (human and wildness) nature confer.

If you dig the unique worlds that director Wes Anderson creates then this film is pure gold. Bill Murray is terrific. "Swamp Leeches!"

A fun and very weird trip.

The inferences to Cousteau (and son) and all things sooooooo important (that are not) are fabulous. Wonderfully irreverent.
Bill Murray is great.
