This is the kind of book I love to bring home and peruse over an afternoon cup of coffee. And who doesn't adore a birthday cake? From the elegant ricotta cheesecake to the frying pan chocolate cake that can be 'baked' over a campfire, there's a delightful range in this collection. And the stories that accompany the recipes are as sweet as the cakes. (Tasha Tudor likes to light the candles on her frothy pink cake, put it on a plank and float it down a stream at dusk to the astonishment of assembled guests). Makes you want to get out a frilly apron and get baking.

not really a baker, but the beautiful pictures of cakes in this book inspired me to try. i've been successfully baking and the recipes are all dead on.

Le Kilimanjaro--Glace au Chocolat, Pralinee is delicious and unique. To make a mountain shape I cut a 2L pop container to hold the icecream.

Try replacing the Pralinee with chopped almonds.
