An epic story that moves with force, passion, and authority, Balance of Power begins when President Kerry Kilcannon and television journalist Lara Costello at last decide to marry. But the momentous occasion is followed by an unspeakable tragedy--a massacre of innocents by gunfire--that ignites a high-stakes game of politics and legal maneuvering in the Senate, the courtroom, and across the country, which the charismatic but untested young President is determined to win at any cost. But in the incendiary clash over gun violence and gun rights, the cost to both Kilcannons may be even higher than he imagined.

If you want to gain a visceral appreciation for what Obama was up against this week with the gun legislation, read this book. Patterson nails it and it will blow your mind how complicated and corrupt America's gun mentality is and consequently how difficult it will be to ever change.

This book is over 1,000 pages and I read it in two days. Patterson gives us an insider's view into U.S. politics in this stunning page-turner. I love novels that teach you something but equally shows you both sides of burning issues.

This will scare you - once you realize who is really running North America.

If you like liberals bashing the second amendment, you will love this book. Anything and everything is blamed on gun makers and owners. No one is else is made to face personal responsibility.
