Carved into a moving island of ice twice the size of the United States, Ice Station Grendel has been abandoned for more than seventy years. The twisted brainchild of the finest minds of the former Soviet Union, it was designed to be inaccessible and virtually invisible. But an American undersea research vessel has inadvertently pulled too close--and something has been sighted moving inside the allegedly deserted facility, something whose survival defies every natural law. And now, as scientists, soldiers, intelligence operatives, and unsuspecting civilians are drawn into Grendel's lethal vortex, the most extreme measures possible will be undertaken to protect its dark mysteries--because the terrible truths locked behind submerged walls of ice and steel could end human life on Earth.

Basic writing - lacked smooth transitions. The character discriptions and development consisted of heavy handed paragraphs interjected for no reason other than to remove the burden of a more skillful revealing of personality traits, physical descriptions, and past interactions. Most of us prefer to be shown something instead of told.

Fun, entertaining, fast-paced. When you pick up a Rollins book you know you have to put on your gullible hat and enjoy the ride

I have read all of James Rollins books and to be honset the more books i read the less i was interested. the first book I read I thought was great, it was exciting and I didnt want to put it down. But as I kept reading his books I noticed that they are all the same book just with different names and places. He became so predictable i found myself skipping whole chapters because i knew it really had nothing to do with the plot. Dont get me wrong its not that the books are bad, if you just picked one of his books and read it you would be pleased for sure, the action and adventure keeps your attention, its just once you read a few of them you see that they are all basically the same. Also they all seem to be 20 pages too long.
