The group's only chance for survival rests with cave researcher Whitney Burke, who has sworn never to enter the caves again -- but whose husband and daughter are now at the convicts' mercy. It's "Die Hard" in a cave! A cave biologist can't face the subterranean after a traumatic accident. But when her husband and daughter are kidnapped by escaped criminals and forced to lead them through a (fictitious) Kentucky cave system to retrieve a stolen scientific artifact, she must face her fears and guide a rescue party. Sullivan achieves a fast pace—partly by glossing over some logic—but carries the book with his sympathetic characters, unique location, and sense of scientific discovery.

A fast paced, action packed story with strong characters. If this is an example of extreme "caving" I'm not sure if I should regard these people with awe for their bravado or shake my head at their foolhardiness. I have concluded that caving is NOT for me.
