This is an excellent compilation of some of Gordon Lightfoot's best songs ever. There are 20 tracks in all on this CD.
I laughed when reading the liner notes which pointed out that some of these songs might be more familiar to the listener from hearing interpretations by other performers. I was thinking of all those young men just learning to play guitar, who would come to high school parties and "practice" Lightfoot songs. This is a very good compilation of Lightfoot's work. I had forgotten how fine and moving some of these songs are -- and especially so when played by the master himself!
Awesome album! if you're a Ligthfoot fan I recommend you get this album other than Gord's Gold. The track listings are in chronicle order.
Born in Orillia, Ontario (in 1938), singer/songwriter/musician, Gordon Lightfoot (now 76 years old) has been a successful recording artist for five decades now (and he's still going strong).
A 16-time Juno Award winner, Lightfoot's obvious talent as a gifted songwriter is well-noted for being instrumental in clearly defining the genre of folk-pop music during the 1960s and 70s.
To date, Lightfoot has more than 200 recordings to his credit. And many of his songs have been recorded by some of the biggest names in the music industry, such as - Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan, Judy Collins and Johnny Cash, to name but a few.
This "Greatest Hits" CD contains 20 tracks in all (recorded between the years of 1966-1993). 4 of my favourites are - Carefree Highway, Summer Side Of Life, Go-Go Round, and Stay Loose.
classic and classy fond memories for boomers and music for everyone - definitely recommend...
