I read the sequel, Chimps Don't Wear Glasses, first and loved it. I like this book just as much. Once again, the book is an opportunity for learning new words about animals and activities. Here we have Siamese cats, hens and roosters, yaks, mules and gnus as well as running a marathon, saving twine, and holiday hikes.

As usual, the illustrations are rich and colorful. You cannot help but smile at the panting dogs running a marathon, the moose whose bowling ball goes astray and the bear taking a bath.

This book would be a great way to give kids a running start on their imagination as they wonder about animals and the silly things they could be doing. It would be a perfect complement to creative writing for the older elementary children as well.
